DESCRIPTION: This week we are joined by Chris Soldo, a legend in his own right and the first assistant director on “Mission: Impossible!” We chart his relationship with Brian De Palma, starting with “Sisters” when Chris was 15 years old, talk about an early version of the movie that would be filmed in the Rocky Mountains, and find a version of the script on a floppy disk he can’t read. Plus, some bonus details on some additional De Palma films! Released October 8th, 2021.

SHOW NOTES: If you want to hear about Brian De Palma and David Koepp’s jailbreak sequence that was never filmed for the first movie, check out our episode on Oliver Stone’s M:I-2 where we break down the script pages. Click here to check out episode 36.

As mentioned in the interview, here are photos of Chris Soldo with the board of shots for the tunnel sequence. They added red gels over the shots they completed. Notice VFX supervisor John Knoll (episodes 89, 90, and 91) in the right photo...

As discussed in the interview, here’s the amazing long take in “Carlito’s Way” at Grand Central Station. Find where it’s streaming here or where to buy it on blu ray here.
